2. Data Communication Through Satellite
This type of data communication can be done using satellite as its access. The Components of Data Communication
Generally, a data communication has several components. The following are some examples of data communication components.
- Sender, the device that sends data.
- Receiver, the device that receives data.

- Delivery Media, the media or a channel used to transmit data. This can be a cable, light, or magnetic waves.
- Protocol, The rules that must be agreed by two or more devices to communicate with each other.
Data Communication Systems
1. Point-to-point Communication
The information from the source is only addressed to one recipient point only. Examples: fax, telephone, and telegram.
2. Point to Multiple Receivers (Multi-Communications)
The information from the source is addressed to some recipient points only. Example: a network using a switch.
3. Spread (Broadcasting Communication)
The information provided by the source is acceptable to all connected points without exception. Examples: television broadcast and radio broadcast.
Data Transmission Modes
It’s a communication medium between a sender and a receiver that is one-way. In a simplex transmission mode, the sender’s side only serves as the sender of information, while the receiving side serves as the receiver. This transmission mode is also called as one way only.
2. Half Duplex (HDX):
This transmission mode is a method of communication that can be done two ways in turn (time is not the same). In other words, half-duplex transmission mode means that the sender can send information and the other side serves as the receiver. So, this mode is often referred to as a two-way alternate channel. A common example, two persons are using Handy-Talky devices to communicate.
3. Full Duplex (FDX)
It is a method used for continuous two-way communication. Where the sender and receiver side can communicate both ways at the same time. One common example of a full duplex device is a mobile phone.
