The heading is an element or HTML tag that serves to show an important part of a web page. There are 6 consecutive levels of HTML heading tag elements include <h1>, <h2>, <h3>, <h4>, <h5>, <h6>. You can use them to mark off the titles and subtitles on a web page. The difference among those levels is the text sizes. The size of an <H1> heading is larger than <h2> heading, and so on.

The use of each heading level is also different to each other. The following is the use of each
heading tag/element that is often applied in processing web pages:

  • <H1> is the heading tag to indicate the main title of a web document or web page.

  • <H3> is the heading tag to indicate the subtitle of <h2> heading
  • The use of <h4> <h4> <h5> <h6> depends on the structure of the content on a web page and programmers often use them too to beautify the text structure of a web page as necessary.

Below is a set of some simple examples to implement each HTML element/tag heading:

<!DOCTYPE html>
      <h1>This is Heading 1</h1>

Another example:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<h1>This is Heading 1</h1>
<h2>This is Heading 2</h2>
<h3>This is Heading 3</h3>
<h4>This is Heading 4</h4>
<h5>This is Heading 5</h5>
<h6>This is Heading 6</h6>

The examples above show the difference among heading tag levels. You can also include the heading tags in other types of tags. Here is an example of using heading element inside another type of tag:

      <a href=""> <h1> this is heading 1 </ h1> </a>

</ Html>
